Sophos Anti-Virus for Windows 2000+: web scanning issues

Sophos Web Content Scanning is not working in the way you expect.

What to do

1. Sophos Web Content Scanner appears not to run

1. Check to see if web content is being scanned (inglés).
2. Ensure that Sophos Anti-Virus on-access scanning is enabled.
3. Open Internet Explorer and check that third-party browser extensions are set correctly (inglés).
4. Ensure that the Sophos web content scanner is enabled locally (inglés).

2. Sophos Web Content Scanner fails to operate correctly

This can be due to:

• An interaction with another add-on.
  There are known issues with some add-ons, for example, with 'RealPlayer 11 Download Plugin' and 'Google Gears'. As a workaround, disable the add-on which is causing the problem. You can do this in Internet Explorer: go to Tools|Manage Add-ons and disable the relevant Add-on.
• A side effect of intercepting certain web traffic.
  This is a known issue. As a workaround, temporarily disable the Sophos Web Content Scanner. This can be done locally (inglés) on a client computer or centrally (inglés).
