| CVE/CAN name | CVE-2010-0484 CVE-2010-0485 CVE-2010-1255 |
| Vendor threat level | Important |
| SophosLabs threat level | Medium |
| Solution | |
| Vendor description | This security update resolves two publicly disclosed vulnerabilities and one privately reported vulnerability in the Windows kernel-mode drivers. The vulnerabilities could allow elevation of privilege if a user views content rendered in a specially crafted TrueType font. This security update is rated Important for all supported releases of Microsoft Windows. |
| SophosLabs comments | This advisory encompasses the way Windows validates certain kernel objects and validation of parameters when creating a new Window. All three vulnerabilities could allow a local attacker to gain administrative rights to that workstation, which could in turn lead to arbitrary code execution. None of these vulnerabilites may be exploited remotely and for this reason SophosLabs have assigned this update a threat level of Medium. |
| SophosLabs testing result | N/A |
| Currently known exploits | At the time of writing SophosLabs have not observed any malware attempting to exploit this vulnerability. Should this situation change samples will be analyzed and we will take action as necessary. |
