Endpoints are not updating and reporting error 00000071 in Enterprise Console

Issue
Your client computers can't access the share that you set up. Enterprise Console shows the following message in the details for the computers that have failed to update:

00000071 ERROR: Could not find a source for updated packages

Known to affect the following Sophos products and versions
Endpoint Security and Control, version 9.x
Sophos Anti-Virus for Mac OS X
Sophos Anti-Virus for Linux
Sophos Anti-Virus for UNIX, version 7.x

What to do

The maximum UNC path that can be used to define a share is 76 characters.

Check that the UNC path you set up for a share is not longer than 76 characters.
