Retrying a failed migration to the Sophos Update Manager in Enterprise Console 4

Issue
When you receive a failed migration report, check the knowledgebase article How to resolve warnings and errors when upgrading from EM Library to Update Manager (inglés). This may advise you to retry the migration.

What to do

If you know that the problem was temporary, such as a network outage, you can simply right-click the Update Manager that failed and select 'Retry Migration'.

However, if you are unsure why the migration failed, open EM Library and check your proxy settings, username (this is the download user name (inglés) listed on your Licence Schedule) and password.

If you find a problem, change it and then follow the steps below to communicate the changes to the Update Manager:

  1. Open a command prompt and type the following command:

    “C:\Program Files\Sophos Enterprise Manager\Library\bin\EMLExp.exe” export \\localhost\SophosEM “C:\Program Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console\SUM\EMLexp.xml”

This command exports the data from EM Library and puts in a location that the Update Manager can find. Ignore any warnings about items not being found.

  2. Then type:
    C:\Program Files\Sophos\Enterprise Console\SUM\EMLConfigConverter.exe SEC EMLExp.xml MigrationData.xml

This command takes the exported data and creates a data file that the Management Service can understand.

  3. In Enterprise Console, right-click the Update Manager that failed and select 'Retry Migration'.

  4. If the migration does not succeed, see the following article which explains how to manually create the Update Manager: How to set up a new Update Manager in Enterprise Console 4.x (inglés).
